SUMMARY:Ladies Only - Quick Start Kayak Class
DESCRIPTION:Ladies\, do you want to build your confidence on the water and improve your paddling skills?  Join us for our Ladies Only Quick Start Kayak Class.  This class will begin early to beat the heat.  The class will allow time to review essential gear and learn the basic paddle strokes to locomote and maneuver your boat.  You will also have the opportunity try out several different boats to improve your knowledge for future paddling experiences. \n\n\n\nTaught by ACA Certified Level 2 Kayak Instructor Grace Arianoutsos.  Grace has paddled many Texas lakes and rivers as well as Western whitewater rivers.  She is ready to share her excitement about kayaking with you. \n\n\n\nAfter our paddle\, we will be the “Ladies who Lunch” 😉 For those who can/would like to\, we’ll head to The Lakehouse down the road at W. Lawther and NW Highway to grab a bite to eat. They have a fantastic patio with several options for food and beverages. \n\n\n\nRecommended Items to Bring: Hat\, Sunscreen\, Insect repellent\, towel and dry clothing (in a Dry Bag). Bring an energy snack to have in your boat and lots of WATER or another form of Hydration. \n\n\n\nPrice includes rental of the paddling gear you need to be safe on the water.

SUMMARY:LLELA KAYAK ECO-TOUR -August
DESCRIPTION:We’d love to have you join us for a unique experience on the Elm Fork of the Trinity river\, paddling through the eco system of the old and the new river channel.  We provide shuttle you back to LLELA in case our want to explore the 8 miles of hiking trails after the kayaking.   LLELA is a beautiful natural area escape in the Dallas Metropolitan area.  Once out enjoying nature\,  you will quickly forget you are in the metroplex. \n\n\n\nWe plan on approximately 6 river miles and we start and stop a lot depending on the nature of what we see\, hear\, and do along the trip. We have in the past encountered deer\, bobcats\, maybe a wolf\, beaver\, nutria\, armadillos\, Bald Eagle\, osprey\, many many hawks\, kingfishers\, great blue Herons\, snowy egrets\, and lot more birds too. We also take a short break about 2/3 of the way in and get out perhaps a short hike\, stretch our legs\, have a snack and if the water and air temp are good\, a little dip in the river to let your inner child have some fun !!!! \n\n\n\nLet the gate agent know you are will KAYAKPOWER for the river paddle and receive a parking card.  Proceed down the road approximately 2 mile nearly to the spillway.  At the spillway\,  just west of the port-o-lets\, look for the paddle trail signage to your right and follow the gravel road to back into the woods.  Parking area is in the field behind the initial trees.  The port-o-lets are the last spot to relief yourselves so please stop before proceeding further. \n\n\n\nLook for the truck and kayaks just past the gate. \n\n\n\nSafety talk starts at 9AM with paddles wet at 10am sharp\, miss the safety talk and you miss the river too\, your safety is our top priority!

SUMMARY:LLELA KAYAK ECO-TOUR SKILLS WORKSOP
DESCRIPTION:Run in parallel with the LLELA Eco-Tour\, we will provide moving water skills development training. This class is ideal for those with flatwater or river float kayak experience.  We will work on refining your boat maneuvering skills and introduce a few specialized strokes for moving water.  You will learn ferrying and S turns using draw strokes along the aprox. 6 miles of the Elm Fork of the Trinity River. \n\n\n\nDepending on water level we will encounter 2\, possibly 3 features to practice refining your skills. This class will also include river rescue techniques for an unskirted capsize. \n\n\n\nPrice includes LLELA access fee\, rental off all paddling gear; boat\, PFD\, paddle and helmet\, shuttle and instruction from ACA L2 River instructors. \n\n\n\n9-10am Safety talk\, 10 am Paddles Wet.   Participation in safety talk required\, your safety is our top priority.
