SUMMARY:LLELA KAYAK ECO-TOUR October
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a unique experience on the Elm Fork of the Trinity River\, paddling through the ecosystem of the old and the new river channel.  After the paddle along 6 river miles we shuttle you back to LLELA. Once out enjoying nature\, you will quickly forget you are in the metroplex. \n\n\n\nSafety talk between 9:00am – 10:00 am\, then paddles wet at 10:00 am\, for a 3- 4-hour trip down the river Participation in Safety talk is mandatory to paddle downriver. \n\n\n\nPricing includes LLELA access fees and all kayak gear including kayak\, paddle and PFD. \n\n\n\nHow to find us:  Let the gate attendant know you are with the kayak group to receive your parking pass.  Proceed approximately 2 miles on the main road to the parking lot at the dam.  Just before the parking lot\, you will see a sign for Kayak parking on the right through the woods.  Parking is in the field near the gate to river. \n\n\n\nWhat to wear for the eco-tour: Optimal attire will be quick dry clothing over your swimsuit and shoes you don’t mind getting wet.  We don’t plan on getting in the water\, but this is kayaking\, so we can’t rule it out.   Old gym shoes or closed toe water shoes work well for your feet.  Flip flops are least desirable; they fall off easily and offer little protection from debris left by fisherman and park people along the shore. \n\n\n\nWhat to bring: a hat\, sunscreen\, insect repellent\, and layers appropriate for the weather.  As a contingency\, a towel and a change of clothing are nice to have in the car. Bring snacks to have in your boat and water or another form of Hydration.   \n\n\n\nDry bags will be provided for personal items you do not want to get wet.

SUMMARY:LLELA KAYAK ECO-TOUR -August
DESCRIPTION:We’d love to have you join us for a unique experience on the Elm Fork of the Trinity river\, paddling through the eco system of the old and the new river channel.  We provide shuttle you back to LLELA in case our want to explore the 8 miles of hiking trails after the kayaking.   LLELA is a beautiful natural area escape in the Dallas Metropolitan area.  Once out enjoying nature\,  you will quickly forget you are in the metroplex. \n\n\n\nWe plan on approximately 6 river miles and we start and stop a lot depending on the nature of what we see\, hear\, and do along the trip. We have in the past encountered deer\, bobcats\, maybe a wolf\, beaver\, nutria\, armadillos\, Bald Eagle\, osprey\, many many hawks\, kingfishers\, great blue Herons\, snowy egrets\, and lot more birds too. We also take a short break about 2/3 of the way in and get out perhaps a short hike\, stretch our legs\, have a snack and if the water and air temp are good\, a little dip in the river to let your inner child have some fun !!!! \n\n\n\nLet the gate agent know you are will KAYAKPOWER for the river paddle and receive a parking card.  Proceed down the road approximately 2 mile nearly to the spillway.  At the spillway\,  just west of the port-o-lets\, look for the paddle trail signage to your right and follow the gravel road to back into the woods.  Parking area is in the field behind the initial trees.  The port-o-lets are the last spot to relief yourselves so please stop before proceeding further. \n\n\n\nLook for the truck and kayaks just past the gate. \n\n\n\nSafety talk starts at 9AM with paddles wet at 10am sharp\, miss the safety talk and you miss the river too\, your safety is our top priority!
