This moving water, river skills refinement class is run in parallel with the LLELA Eco-Tour. We provide 4-5 hours of moving water skills development. This class is ideal for those with flatwater or river float kayak experience. We work on refining your boat maneuvering skills and introduce a few specialized strokes for moving water. You will learn how draw strokes allow you to cross the current and more quickly turn your boat.
Depending on water level we will encounter 2, possibly 3 features to practice refining your skills. This class will also include river rescue techniques for an unskirted capsize.
Price includes LLELA access fee, rental off all paddling gear; boat, PFD, paddle and helmet, shuttle and instruction from ACA L2 River instructors.
9-10am Safety talk, 10 am Paddles Wet. Participation in safety talk required, your safety is our top priority.
Let the gate attendant know you are with the kayak group to receive your parking pass. Proceed down the main road approximately 2 miles, just before the parking lot at the dam turn right at the paddle trail parking sign into the woods. Parking is in the field near the gate.
