Paddlesport Safety & Rescue Skills
Having the skills to safety exit and get back in your boat are essential to a successful day on the water. This workshop teaches recognition and avoidance of common North Texas lake and river hazards, execution of several self and assisted rescue techniques. Emphasis is placed on personal safety and simple rescue skills.
ACA Paddlesport Safety Facilitator
We offer an ACA Certification as a Paddlesport Safety Facilitator, ideal for employees of Parks and Recreation departments, outdoor recreation companies or kayak/canoe rental companies. The course provides background knowledge of paddling safety and environmental hazards, and the ability to effectively maneuver their craft in order to perform and demonstrate competent rescue techniques.
Offered in conjunction with a quick start kayak class, participants will gain experience on the water handling themselves in a kayak and learn assisted rescue techniques. This certification allows the facilitator to introduce paddlecraft safety and knowledge to the beginner paddler in a land-based setting.
